Easton Mako TORQ -10

2016 easton mako torq xl

The Easton Mako TORQ has made a huge splash since its inception 2014 and it’s one of the hottest big barrel bats in the market. It’s made the Mako series one of the most popular around and right up there with DeMarini’s Voodoo and Louisville Slugger’s Prime.

But first let’s address the elephant in the room: can the TORQ handle help or damage your swing? Well, that’s up to personal preference.

For instance, I like to choke on the bat and I grip it in a rather unorthodox way. Somewhat similar to Dustin Pedroia, so the torq handle doesn’t necessarily feel optimal to me.

But for someone who likes to grip the bat at the knob and has a more traditional hold on it, it might actually be beneficial. Seeing as the spinning torq would put your hands at a naturally strong power position for hard and solid contact.

With that said, let’s get into the actual specs of this bat.

Easton Mako TORQ Bat Technology

  • TCT™ Thermo Composite Technology
    • Fully composite build, Easton users their powerful TCT™ composite technology to produce hot bats with ultra responsive barrels that shoots baseballs into the outfield.
    • It creates a trampoline effect at contact by maintaining energy contained within the barrel and releasing it when the bat hits the ball.
  • 360 Torq™ Technology
    • As we talked about before, this bat features the TORQ technology that aims to put players at a power position more consistently.
    • Additionally, this can set up the correct bio-mechanics for the future through muscle memory. As players make the switch over to wood bats they will naturally put themselves in the correct hand position as their muscles will trigger this motion automatically.
  • ConneXion Piece
    • The CXN Piece improves comfort and feel at the plate by reducing vibration and bat sting. Players can attack the ball aggressively without fearing getting stung by a mishit ball.

Overall, a great bat for younger players to help them establish healthy hitting habits at an early age which will set them up for long-term success. Great for power hitters with a bit of a budget to work with.
